SEO Course by Rank Math: a Beginner’s Guide to SEO (Review)

SEO Course by Rank Math a Beginner’s Guide to SEO (Review) pin

If you manage a blog or business website, you’ve probably encountered the term “SEO.” SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, the process of improving your content to rank higher in search results.

While the internet is full of free SEO advice, deciding whom to trust or where to begin can be challenging. A lot of the advice out there is conflicting or outdated. That’s why it is crucial to learn from authoritative sources.

In this article, I’ll be reviewing the recently launched SEO Course by Rank Math, which provides the latest and most effective SEO tips and techniques.

The course delivers its content in short, easy-to-digest video lessons, and Jack Cao‘s approach to teaching is engaging and action-oriented.

Let’s take a look at Rank Math’s SEO subscription course and why I recommend it to beginners.

What is Rank Math?

Rank Math is a powerful SEO tool for WordPress website owners. The company offers an extensive SEO plugin, which is completely free, as well as paid upgrades to Pro, Business, and Agency add-ons with some additional perks.

The premium features are specially tailored to pro bloggers, freelancers, businesses, and digital agencies. However, the plugin’s free version is remarkably robust on its own.

Rank Math’s journey began in late 2018, and since then, they have been empowering website owners like you to take full control over on-page search engine optimization.

Rank Math’s remote team of developers, content creators, and support staff is spread across the globe and on a mission to make WordPress SEO less of a hassle and more fun.

Although I initially installed Yoast SEO on all my websites, I quickly switched and concluded that Rank Math’s free plan offers more features and superior support. Their active and helpful Facebook group is a valuable resource for both newcomers and experts.

I’ve since tested Rank Math’s business plan and used it on many of my client sites and on my own. However, you can start your website’s SEO journey with the free plugin, which is fantastic for beginners.

The combination of Rank Math’s plugin with the various online training courses that I have completed over the last few years has been an essential part of my SEO training.

The tools I use and the courses I have taken have equipped me with a strong foundation in SEO, and I firmly believe that every website owner should be familiar with the basics of search engine optimization.

These will help boost your website traffic and maximize your web design investment.

New lessons are added each month!

As you see, the way this course has been planned makes it incredibly easy to consume. Plus, the fact that all the content is delivered in video format can be especially appealing for those with shorter attention spans.

Personally, I enjoy watching YouTube videos and have gained a lot of knowledge from them. I generally prefer watching videos over reading long-form written content.

However, because there’s so much advice on YouTube and each YouTuber has a unique take on different topics, it can be difficult to organize and filter through all the information provided.

In the digital space, there are various ways to approach different practices, and one is not always superior to another. Yet, it can be challenging to expand your knowledge when you’re unsure of where to begin.

When you take a course from a single instructor or organization, you get a clear overview of the basics. That’s one reason why I referred to this course as a beginner’s guide to search engine optimization.

It’s not that a proficient SEO wouldn’t benefit from taking it. On the contrary, I think it’s valuable for everyone! The digital space shifts quickly, and keeping up with the trends is essential.

However, Rank Math’s program is especially helpful for newcomers to SEO who might find the subject overwhelming.

As a beginner, you will benefit from a well-structured and user-friendly program that provides you with a good overview of the huge world of SEO but starts with the basics.

SEO Course by Rank Math: The Learning Experience

If you want to build a strong digital presence, you must be willing to improve your website’s content and technical settings continuously.

Rank Math’s SEO course will teach you how to optimize your website for better rankings, increased traffic, and conversions.

From learning about keyword research to understanding site structure, by the end of the course, you’ll certainly feel more confident about your website’s performance and the steps you need to take to improve it.

The lessons that have already been published will be readily available from your Rank Math account as soon as you subscribe, and you are free to take them at your own pace.

As you progress, you can mark each class completed so that you’ll know exactly where you’ve left off the next time you log in to your account.

Since there are no assessments or written materials, you might want to write down your key takeaways from each module and take notes on the tactics you plan to implement.

Also, if you ever face any challenges or have additional questions as you go through the training, a group of experts will be ready to help you on Rank Math’s forum.

Is the SEO Course by Rank Math useful for non-WordPress users?

Yes! Regardless of the CMS you use, you can benefit from the SEO Course offered by Rank Math. Although they go through some important WordPress and specific plugin settings, you can apply most of what you learn to your website regardless of the platform it’s built-in.

Different content management systems (such as Wix or Squarespace) will display things differently, and of course, Rank Math’s SEO plugin won’t be available on those platforms. However, the foundations of search engine optimization are the same.

That means you can skip the WordPress-specific lessons and still learn and implement relevant strategies to up your SEO.

If you use a different platform and can’t find what you’re looking for, you can always reach out to your website’s host with any questions.

In any case, many lessons aren’t related to either the Rank Math SEO plugin or WordPress at all. Over each module, you’ll learn essential techniques that, when applied correctly, will help you rank your website higher on search engines, regardless of the system you use.

Do I have to be a Rank Math SEO client to enroll?

No, the SEO Course and the Rank Math plugin are two separate products.

You can subscribe to the course if you use the free version of Rank Math or if you don’t use their plugin at all.

That said, although the program offers plenty of training on SEO in general, some lessons are specifically tailored to helping Rank Math users get the most out of the plugin’s features.

Should I already know the basics of SEO before considering this course?

Not at all.

The SEO Course will cover essential aspects of SEO, starting with the very basics and then exploring more complex topics as you progress through it.

So even if you’re a beginner, you will find that this course is perfectly suitable for your needs and easy to follow along.

What can I expect to learn?

The people behind the course are also the creators of one of WordPress’s most powerful SEO plugins. You will be learning from experts in the field and can be confident about the information they provide.

The SEO Course offers actionable tips for optimizing your website to rank better in SERPs and provides the processes and tools you need to achieve this goal.

Here are some of the topics you can expect to learn:

  • all about domains, WordPress basic SEO setup, and website structure;
  • what SEO is and how search engines work;
  • what keywords are and how to find the best keywords for your site;
  • how to perform a competitor analysis;
  • how to optimize your content and on-page SEO advice;
  • off-page SEO essentials such as link-building;
  • how to get your pages indexed on Google;
  • and more!

How much does the course cost?

The course costs $16.41 per month, but it’s billed yearly, so the price is actually $197.

Honestly, this pricing strategy is the only drawback I see. It might be a good fit for you; it’s all about preference. As I see it, this is essentially an extended payment plan that makes it look cheaper.

I like paying for things in advance and in full, though, especially online. So I’d rather have it be more expensive but consist of a single payment. Plus, it isn’t very common for a course in this format to work on a subscription basis.

On the other hand, if you think about it, you’ll be paying less than $20 for new SEO lessons each month. This does sound a lot more appealing!

SEO is a valuable skill that can do wonders for your business.

I don’t know how long they’ll continue to add content to the course. As we’ve seen above, there are at least 12 modules lined up, and new lessons are added monthly. My guess is that it could become an evergreen product for a one-time fee whenever it’s completed.

Closing thoughts

The digital environment is continually evolving, with new trends emerging daily and ongoing algorithm updates. As a content creator or online business owner, you must adapt to these shifts!

If your goal is to stay on top of SEO trends and best practices, you’ll need a mentor who has an in-depth understanding of the SEO landscape and can guide you through every step.

What sets Rank Math’s SEO Course apart from the alternatives I know is its subscription model. It offers fresh content each month, helping you learn the current best practices for content creation and the latest strategies in search engine optimization.

If you are ready to dive deeper into Search Engine Optimization, I encourage you to look further at what this program has to offer.

You can start with their free plan, which includes 3 introductory lessons that will help you get a sense of Jack Cao’s teaching style and decide whether it’s a good fit.

The premium plan unlocks all the content that has already been published and provides you with access to new lessons each month. That starts at $16.41 per month and also includes 24/7 priority support and regular Q&A sessions with other SEO experts.

Alternative resources

If you know me, you know that I am always enrolled in a course. I love learning and sharpening my skills. SEO, in particular, always catches my attention!

That’s why I took Rank Math’s SEO Course as soon as I read Bhanu Ahluwalia‘s email about it. He reached out, inviting creators to take the course for free in exchange for an honest review, and I couldn’t decline.

I honestly think this course is well-designed, even for complete beginners, and it will give you all the right foundations.

That said, I couldn’t end this article without sharing a number of alternative resources you may want to check out.

First, I suggest that you subscribe to Rank Math’s YouTube channel. You’ll find plenty of high-quality materials that will help you learn more about SEO and their powerful SEO plugin for WordPress.

This tutorial on installing and configuring Rank Math’s plugin has been particularly useful to me. If you plan to use Rank Math on your business website or blog, you should absolutely add this video to your playlist.

Other online courses on search engine optimization that I am currently following are Lyrical Host’s Navigating SEO and Eb’s SEO Jumpstart.

The contents and methodologies differ from Rank Math’s, and although they are all extremely valuable, these courses are longer and dive deeper into each topic.

Speaking from my experience so far, I’d recommend starting with Rank Math’s SEO course for a quick (but extremely valuable) overview of what SEO is and how it can work for you.

You’ll learn about different facets of SEO and be equipped to start implementing the tactics in a matter of hours.

Then, when you’re ready to further your skills, go check additional resources.
